downpipe + cai = safe w/out a tune?
Hey guys I was just wondering how safe a catless downpipe and a cai would be without a tune? I searched and it seems as though a lot of people are running these mods without tuning. I'm just double-checking because on forums for the evo and sti etc. they say to get a tune when you have these mods to prevent overboosting or unsafe air/fuel ratios etc. Is this a worry for the N54, or generally not? Thanks for any info.

Should be fine. Ultimate Racing has a dyno plot on their website that was made with just their DPs and everything else stock. If you go catless though you will most likely get a CEL from cat inefficiency.

Im not sure why you would want to run DPs and a CAI without a tune... For the price just get a tune you will have a lot more power and less worries about if it will work or not.

Tune is not a necessity. Our shop car has all of our bolt-ons with no engine management whatsoever.

Hmm. Unfortunately that doesn't make any sense. If its wallet then DPs+CAI+Simms= more $$ then say the AA or Helix Tune. And a lot more then the JB.

+O2 Simms This is the route to take IF you are modding an NA car NOT a turbo car.
