Back to work on my project! Some input pls??
Hey guys, awhile back i introduced myself and my project E90. i was chasing a vac leak and some minor oil leaks and a few engine codes. I actually got in a little accident which thew my progress back, i recovered from that and ended up moving houses which postponed the project even further. well im all settled in the new place and got the car back together. I'm just back to chasing minor problems again. As always any help from yall is much appreciated!
So a little background, its a 2007 328i sedan with the N52. i currently have 4 codes. P0463 - Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit High Input P1407 - Fuel Level Signal 1 also lean codes on both banks.... as far as the fuel level codes the car never reads full on the dash it goes just past 3/4 of a tank then stops, its been like this since i bought the car. i was told the fuel sender on the left access panel was changed before i bought the car.. i believed the seller cause the old one was in the trunk but perhaps it was installed wrong idk... but i did change the fuel pump in the right access panel when i got the car as it was leaking and ik these cars are infamous for fuel pump problems. so im thinking fuel sender/pressure regulator even though it was replaced??? Not sure what it could be? Now for the lean on both banks issue... i cleaned the maf to no avail... but thanks to yall for saving my ass again, i found a thread on how to make a DIY smoke tester for these cars, spent the $20 on the supplies and smoke tested the intake. It worked even better than i thought and i found two leaks immediately, one of which i suspected. what are these leaks??? suggested repairs? Thanks to yall in advance! also side note i have a k+dcan cable coming in Thursday to do further diag also to code a new battery im installing. the car has been dying after minutes with the key in... |

Also here's a look at the diy smoke machine I made based on the other thread. Just got a threaded pvc cap (all the hardware store had that was the size of the intake) shaved the threads off, drilled a hole in the top and threaded in a coupler for the hose, epoxy'd all that and bam it was made. The inlet on the hand pump was a lil big so I had to roll my own with some tobacco. Never thought my rolling skills would pay off

Just an update, did some research and the vac leak on the valve cover seems to be coming from the eccentric cam sensor? Or connector? Still clueless on the one in the rear but I'll be preparing to do the VCG and that sensor, any tips?
Also here's a pic of what I got in the mail since I posted last. Some door panel clips as I'll be taking panels off to replace some door lock actuators that died and the retaining clips for the wood trim cause a few are hanging off a lil. The lower heater hose that goes from the T at the radiator to the back firewall cause the clip that held that in place broke and allowed the last hose to rub against a pulley. Heard this was somewhat of a bitch to change? And finally my k+dcan cable. Thinking of making a video tut of how to install diag software on newer operating systems cause I haven't been able to find one. More updates soon if any of y'all are interested |
