Need help with my 335i
2009 335i with 76k miles keeps going into limp mode. It has transmission and engine malfunction also my brake light is on with DSC and DBC malfunction. I replaced my coils and spark plugs and 3 injectors 2 weeks ago. I don't even push my car down a lot. just on Friday driving down the freeway around 80mph it went into limp mode. I pulled to the side and reset the car and it went away for maybe 5 min then again it went to limp mode. I pulled of the freeway and went to a gas station when I went to reset the car and turned it on, it had a long crank it started and still had the lights on. I drove home at 40mph around 2,500rpm-2,800rpm, after I got home I left the car alone for 30 min or so and turned it back on and it went away. Now just today I drove the car around town and it happened again went to limp mode and I went home and left it alone for maybe 10min went to turn it on and it's gone again. I need to know what is the problem?! I know to get the codes read but I just need some guesses what it could be. I used a generic code scanner and got p0335- Crankshaft position sensor a circuit.
I know I need a bmw scan tool but would that be the problem if not what would be the problem?? Please help me I'm taking it to my mechanic on Monday. I also bought the crankshaft position sensor today at bmw dealership. PLEASE HELP ME!

Sounds like you figured it out.
Did you try swapping the sensor you purchased or going to have your mechanic do it? No need to post up 5 times... |

Is that what the crankshaft position sensor would do cause the car to go into limp mode on the engine and transmission malfunction? It comes and goes the malfunction but would it be better if I tested the battery to see what voltage it's getting?

I used a generic code scanner, I know it's better to use a bmw scan tool but don't have one and waiting to get the k+dcan cable but would it still be the crankshaft sensor or something else?

One step at a time.
Fix the crankshaft position sensor and hopefully the engine malfunction reduced power will go away. The other lights are different. |

I plan on buying transmission service kit and wanted the mechanic shop to do it, they said I would need a flush but is that recommended with my car only having 76k miles. I read some say don't do a flush it could mess up the transmission?

I read on another forum that the crankshaft would cause all these lights to pop up so hopefully it's just my crankshaft sensor. From what u are saying the other lights will be something different? I just need to scan the codes I only got 2 but that was with a generic code scanner so it won't be specific.

Bmw doesn't ever say to service the transmission. They consider it lifetime which some guys have said it's only 100k miles. ZF trans does mention servicing. It's really up to you.
Most enthusiasts will service the trans 40-50k miles. Fluid Flush, change filter etc. Others who just drive on the daily will run it until their transmission experiences issues. |
