I had another run at Willowbank Raceway last night. Once again, I came up short of breaking into the 10s. A 11.048s @ 127.97mph. A better 60' time would have got me there.

I will work on a few things over summer so hopefully, I can get a 10s run next winter. It is frustrating when you get 11.03s, 11.04s and 11.05s runs but just can't get that 1/2 a tenth quicker.

It would go better than did before at Roll racing. I may do that again sometime in the future. I want to fix up the outlets first so that I can adjust the steering wheel up higher. Also, I think there may be an issue with cylinder 5 that I need to assess.

Yes, they are Shane but I would love them to be consistently 1/2 a tenth less than 11s. It will happen one day I hope. How are your aluminium outlets going. That is my next project. I want to get my steering wheel up so I can raise my seat again and install a standard coolant expansion tank again. My modified tank is still going ok without any issues as yet but I am still concerned it may start to leak someday.

popped into the shop the other day, this is a pic of the two piece outlet which mounts to the fmic.

Obviously you'd be best to get a set from n54transfr (?) in WA, since mine have been fabbed up to suit vtt GC series turbos which are clocked differently

honestly, fuck this zf shit. let me put a sequential manual box in the old girl i you must have 6 gears. drop some weight, drive a manual, dog engagement. everything dreams are made of.

Your outlets are getting there. I have removed my RB outlets today and will start looking at designing and fabricating an aluminium set. Easier said than done.

Why not buy a set from the guy in WA Ken? Do you think the RB outlets are a restriction?

I seen on facebook today there's a product out called a launchbox, some sort of two step launch control to help lower 60ft times. Unsure if it will be of use, or if indeed it lowers your 60ft/ET's etc but...

I have a spare one of those, called WOT box.

RB outlets not a restriction, just foul the 1m/m3 steering column. I can make you some outlets if you need ken, currently have a complete engine or two on the ground here so would be simple enough.

As Duck said the RB silicone outlets don't cause any restriction but the rear outlets fouling of the steering shaft prevents the steering wheel from being raised to a suitable position for me and the fouling of the coolant expansion tank really annoys me. The WA aluminium outlets wouldn't connect to the RB Evo turbos and there is no detail on the pipe diameters as yet.

I gave my car it's last run for this year at the Test N Tune last night. I made a couple of changes prior to this meeting. I sped up the first 4 gear changes by 25% using the customisation module in xHP, replaced the modified OEM air filter box with the AFE DCI and replaced the EVO RB silicon outlets with custom made aluminium items. The weather was fine with temperatures around 18-20C. I did 3 runs with the best being a 11.127s @ 129.59mph on the last run. Following this run, a transmission fault came up while on the return road and the transmission locked in D2. When I got back to the pits, I reset the TCU using the xHP App and it worked ok in D to get back home. However, I believe it could be on its way out. Regardless of what I tried, I couldn't get a 60' time under 1.8s which also indicates an issue with the transmission. There is no indication the AFE DCI was any better than my modified OEM air box so I will reinstall it. Very few cars turned up so you could just keep going around if you wished and go straight to the start line with no delay. One Golf R had 11 runs. There was a new AMG C63 that run which obviously had some mods as it pulled a 10.88s and a 10.97s. My datalogs for the runs and timesheets are below.

I think its all in the 60' mate if you can get it in the 1.7s you will get your 10's. These cars are pain to launch by the looks of it.

You are absolutely correct. The ZF is a PITA trying to launch with a turbo engine. The turbo G6E Falcon I had was exactly the same. That is the advantage of a 4L80E or powerglide with a 3,500-4,000rpm stall convertor. With these you can get the boost up for launch and get the 60' times down around 1.5s. With one of these installed, mid 10s would be easy without touching anything else. I was pulling 1.70s and even got down to a 1.66s 60' time but regardless what I try I cannot get below 1.8s now for some reason.

I had a 3,000rpm stall converter installed but at 3,000rpm the launch would be very slow as if something in the TCU didn't like it. Whether it had something to do with the torque settings, I am not sure. Instead of flying off the line which you would expect because the boost level is higher, it would just crawl away until 4,000rpm and then start to accelerate. I changed it for a stock converter and managed better times. I don't believe these transmissions are suited for drag racing unless you have a lot of torque down low. The Nizpro 335 they had as a project car was the best I have seen launching. It would spin the 275 MT drag radials off the line and pull 1.5s 60' times. It was running stock turbos so the torque was available at low rpm.

Are you launching in 1st or 2nd? Try 1st gear but seems that your ZF might be slipping as well off the line. Sort out your 60' and you will get your 10s easy with that mph.

That Nizpro 335 moved nicely with the built ZF. Who knows what they did to it to get it to launch that hard off the line.

I normally launch in 1st gear. I have tried 2nd but once again the transmission doesn't like it and automatically changed into 3rd at around 3,800rpm. I got my highest trap speed on this run at 132.71mph due to one less gear change but the time was 11.39s. I have spoken to Nizpro on how did they launch the car so hard. They reckon the driver just stalled it as high as the brakes would hold and launched. Obviously, a lot of torque down at low rpm.
