Cattless DP question on smog

After I get my car serviced for the fuel pump I want to buy the Cattless DP's. My one concern is the random smog stations I have seen. I have seen it twice in my town a Highway Patrol check point for emissions. There are about 3 highway patrol cars, one RV and 5 sniffers. There is a large sign that says, "Do not turn off motor". My question is, if I remove the primary cats will the secondary cats burn off enough emissions for me to pass through the Highway Patrol check point? BTW this is just a rolling check point, they only stop you if the sniffers spike because the emissions are too high.

They seem to be the exact same cats and once the car is fully heated they probably work as well as the primary. The car was made to use 4 cats though, so I think it is questionable if you can pass with one set missing whether it is the primary or secondary, but my guess is you will.

That's a positive!

man california is strict. In CT I took in my catless WRX (you could smell and hear my car from a mile away) in for testing and passed emissions

Gee you Californians are bad boys,

Not only do you have smog checks every two year, they now pull you over on the road and check you out. Sounds like enough of you guys are pulling your smog controls.

When I lived in CA I had a 66 Mustang which was built in CA, and to my surprise that damn car had smog controls on it when it was originally built. On my second smog check the mechanic noticed it was a CA car and failed the car because it was missing the original smog stuff. I appeal his decision, and loss, even though the car passed all the level even better than factory original as good as my 90's vintage car, they did not care if it passed they just wanted to see the equipment on the car.

When I put it all back on, and retested the car nearly failed, but it made the Smog expert happy.

From what I understand, you will need to purchase a OBDII compliant cat that is also CA certified. If I remember correctly, those are the only ones that will get you out of a ticket for modifying your factory systems. Factory cats fail all the time, so CA allows you to replace them with the aftermarket ones. The only problem is, they are still very expensive compared to "other" versions.
