Is Renegotiation possible?

If I pay cash, can I renegotiate the price since I don't need any financing? Will/can the dealership sell the car for less?

It seems a bit off to renegotiate after the fact,

I'm sure you'd be really pissed if they tried to raise your price at delivery time, that's exactly how they'll feel if you try and change your deal after it's already been made.

If anything you not financing the car will cut further into their profits (no kickback from selling the loan)

Sticking to the agreement you've already made is the honest thing to do

No because "paying cash will save you $$ on a car" is the biggest myth around. The dealership would rather you finance as they'll make $$$ on the financing too.

by investing in something else, they would still have to wait for the "long run" to collect any kind of interest, so your logic is a bit off. and since you are not financing it thru bmw, it doesnt matter b/c they don't make a dime off the financing. they are getting one big lump sum from your bank, which is just like getting a big check from you. in short, there is no incentive for them to renegotiate.

The bank makes money when you finance not the dealer. If the car cost 40K, the dealer gets 40K whether you pay cash or hand over a finance check from the bank.

If it was me, you could just ask, "if I paid cash instead of financing, can I get a discount?". I probably wouldln't push the issue. You agreed on a price already.

if you finance through the dealer I'm sure there's gotta be a kickback to have them use your bank. They're selling your loan to a bank

It is my understanding the dealers DO make some money if they finance a car. At least the sales person that I deal with told me they do. He is pretty cool and just says anything. My kind of sales person.
