TPMS Monitoring/Privacy Issue?
This article claims that TPMS sensors send out serial numbers which can be tied to the car, remotely queried (i.e. by something you drive near), and then used for whatever purposes such information could provide - like your average speed between two points.
http://www.hexview.com/sdp/node/44/ Interesting thought. Not sure of the feasibility of it, but thought others might find it interesting. Roy |

Interesting Article...two things...
sensors can easily be removed...you would just have to put up with light on dash which I would do before I would let them monitor my car remotely....or I would never buy a new car again to avoid having to own technology that let's government SPY on me...... The article mentions that the manufacturers know that serial number of each part on the car. However, I have aftermarket wheels with BMW OEM sensors from Tire Rack. So I now have sensors that do not match the manufacturer's info. So even if my car were to be "monitored" by speed sensors, how would they know the information being transmitted is coming from my car, since my sensors aren't factory. Unless, the transmitted information to my car updates that information via my car's computer and sends it to the DMV automatically....
