1996 E90 318i ECU
Car been driving fine til last week; heavy rain for a 6 mile drive, parked up, Came back 5 hours later and crank but no start: called roadside recovery out who tried a battery pack and other things to no avail. Car lifted on to recovery truck and transported to garage where it started first time but died 30 minutes later. Can’t get it to restart and they now say power to ECU BUT NOTHING COMING OUT!!!
Anybody any ideas?? |

Bit confused! Are you saying this is a 1996 car?
If so it will be an E36 not an E90. Assuming it is an E90 the following thread might be useful which turned out to be a water damaged ECU. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1481735 |

The heavy rain could be coincidence but I would check to see if the bay where the ECU lives is flooded or looks as if it has been wet.
In any case it sounds as if the ECU has given up the ghost if it will not communicate so the only option is to pull it out and repair or replace. Before refitting make sure that the drainage is adequate as described in the link sent previously. |
