Resetting transmission adaptation

Hello everyone.
My 2011 328i (automatic) with 48000 kilometers, for the past month started doing some abrupt/hesitation when pressing on gas pedal to merge or basically add more load (going up hill changing gears)

So I took it to a shop and the reset of transmission adaptation was performed.
I originally thought it was coils/misfire.

I did ask them about the procedure I found online

https://blog.fcpeuro.com/how-to-rese...ingadaptations

Is this procedure a requirement or a gimmick?

I was told for the next two weeks, whenever I come to a stop; to make sure I make a full stop, not a rolling one and forget about this nonsense procedure.

The gear changes did feel much smoother, but today while driving; I did get a slight hesitation . I hope this will go away or I'll have to take it in to replace coils.

The car didn't give any codes (using Bimmergeeks ProTool).

Any ideas?

The GM trannys in the 328s are lousy transmissions. They have their share of quirks. Make sure it is abnormal before you obsess over it too much.

The thing is, this just happened last month. Since I got the car brand new in 2011.
I just want to take care of it before it turns into something major.

And.... it was coils and/or spark plugs
They were never replaced at 48000 km.

So searching you vin on realoem yields these two results:

Name: sd.JPG

Size: 41.5 KB

GA6HP19A - has a plastic oil pan
GA6L45R - has aluminum oil pan

Which one is yours?
I'm just trying to see which adaptation procedure your car will require.

At this point, can't really say as I have no clue.
I'll be taking my car for oil change and coolant flush on the 22nd, I'll ask the shop to note that for me.
Thank you for looking into this.

I tried this decoder which shows that the car has a GM GA6L-45R transmission.

Odd. Plugs are rated till 100k. Most don't replace till 70-80k on the early side. But glad you found it.

Thanks. I figured they are not that expensive and I wanted to replace them anyway since I would have access to them.

Well, I get harsh bumps between gear changes

@Wolf 335 would you please provide information on the two reset procedures?

Why did they make it such a difficult thing! Ugh...

Went to the dealer and spoke with their foreman, he said the reset is done through the software and that's it, it adapts to the driving style.
When I asked him about the lengthy relearn procedure, he said the reset doesn't instruct such steps.

When I showed him the reset procedure from the FCPEuro page, he said nothing like this is done when resetting adaptation.

He suggested that I can do a software update on the whole car (2 hours @ ~$350 CAD )

ughhh... why this is so hard. I can't find any procedure for 2011 328i!!
Could it be that there is truly no need for relearn steps to do?!
