Woolite and water = overrated?

Who here thinks that washing your interiors of your car with woolite mixed with water is overrated? I washed my dashboard with it and it didn't clean all the grease that my stupid ass dealer put on. I spent over 3 hours cleaning my dash, and it's still not clean. I put it in a spray bottle and I put in 1 part Woolite with 6 parts water. I sprayed in a microfibre cloth and I wiped my dash with it.

ok, If it didn't work for you get something stronger...

It is not a de-greaser, it is not made to clean the grease off your dashboard, i use it to just remove surface dust and basic dirt.

You have a couple of options due to the fact that it seems your deailer used a oil based product. I always use water baised products on all interior and exterior parts except wheels and some trim. So make sure you use water based products next time.

My top two are:

1. CG Silk Shine

2. 303

To clean the dash you can try two things for (easy to more harsh) inorder to get the grease off the dash:

1. You can try CG Leather Cleaner. I find that it works great at cleaning all interior parts. Although I am not sure how it will do against grease.

2. Dilute CG Green Clean or Simple Green and give that a try. It will be good at de-greasing, yet it is much harsher than most interior products therefore you must use with a bit of caution.

I am sure others will have different ideas, for I have never ran into this problem. With all of my detail jobs, I am the first person to touch the car therefore I have never had to deal with other's mistakes.

Good Luck

I wanted to use Simple Green but others stopped me from doing it because they believe that it's too harsh. The grease itself is white. It totally lightened my dashboard up. Even when I used Woolite and water, my entire dashboard is lighter than my rest of my car as it didn't completely removed the grease or did the Woolite and water make it worse? The stupid dealer even put grease on my air vents! I haven't had a chance to clean my air vents though. The entire length of air vents - top and bottom flaps are covered in white grease. They even put grease on my speakers and I am so afraid of cleaning my speakers because I'm afraid the water will damage it.

It's one reason why I hate going to dealers... it's like they're trying to get back at me or something. I accused one dealer that they damaged my rear bumper which they did.... so I took it to another dealer, and I ended up having a damaged interior!!! Seems like these service people at these dealerships are very connected.

Check this stuff out. I use it and love it. You can dilute it enough to not harm interior parts.

Haha. Yes. It is the same product, but just less diluted. My CG friend told me that it is the same, but a gallon of CG Green Clean will make hundreads of Simple Green bottles, therefore it will be a lot cheaper in the long run. If you see a need for something like simlple green, then buy the CG Green Clean, but if you dont think you would need that much, then just go buy some Simple Green.

Just make sure you dilute it quite a bit. You can always make it stronger, therefore you want to start off as light as possible and detect how well it is working to see if you need to make the mixture stronger to get the oil off.

Also I would not use it at full strenght. If simple green is not doing the trick, then we will have to think of a different route. The key here is to use the least harful way yet still get the oil off. It would be nice to know what your deailer use, therefore we know what we are up against.

Is their any way you can get the information?

Like LRG has mentioned u need a degreaser!!! U can use simple green and if u dont feel comfortable with that Dilute it down 50/50 or whatever seems to fit your need!
I personally use megs APC and havent came across anything it cant handle!! Tar,gum, soda u name it, it works ya sometimes i have to make a stronger bottle to get the harsher stuff out but ive yet to use it full strength!

What's really messed up is that my dash and vents don't feel greasy anymore. However, the colour is still the same - very light grey after washing it for over 3 friggin' hours. I have a feeling that the grease itself or the mixture of the grease and woolite and water might have permanently damanged my dashboard.

Anyway, I am going to make a complaint against my dealer. I will call them up and ask for the manager.

Can you believe that they never greased none of my door hinges or latches?

try P21s Total auto wash (3:1). let it soak in for a minute, then scrub with a brush, wipe off, then get a damp towel and wipe it clean. follow with GC leather cleaner

your problem sounds a lot like the one i had here:
