MicroFiber Towels in Stores?

Hey guys, picked up my Jet Black 325i last weekend. First off WOW, what an amazing car, leaps and bounds over my E46.
Anyways, I hear all this talk about drying your car with MicroFiber Towels, is much better than drying with a standard bath towel or even a Chamois. But what I was wondering....do any stores carry these MicroFiber Drying Towels. I'm one of those guys that like to buy things in a store, rather than the net.
And I want to avoid as much swirl / scratch marks that I can.
Any Help?

I saw that thread, but they were all talking about where to buy them ONLINE, and I would rather buy from a store. By the time I created this thread you hadnt posted in that thread telling him that you could get them in any autoparts store. My mistake, should have just waited a bit longer.
Thanks

Would just any MicroFiber towel work, or does it have to be a MicroFiber Drying Towel, (specifically for auto use). Thought I read somewhere that even a cheap MicroFiber towel will scratch the heck outa your car...?

i believe that there are several variances of microfiber towels...but being microfiber, to me it doesnt really matter. Ive noticed that they are really really soft, softer than normal towels and chamois...you can buy a couple and see which one you like more. i have about 5 of them as like any other towel, they dot really do much good once wet. go get a couple and decide which one you like more...then buy a couple more of those...shouldnt be more than a couple $$ each one.

My local Target here in Tampa sells them, so you should check them out. I bought them, use them. Work great. Remember after you wash them, do NOT use fabric softener if you machine dry them. I take them out of the washer and let them air dry.

i got a dozen at my local Target. very good for wiping the sills, hood and trunk edges, etc. I use an absorber for drying. Towels scratched my last black car (I've got a Jet black now).

Beware of store bought MF towels, there's no quality control in those kinda places.

I got mine from pakshak.com

Thanks for all your comments guys. I washed it this weekend, took the nozzel off the hose, man does that trick help alot. The water just sheets off the car. I started to dry the car with a chamoise, BIG MISTAKE, so I re-washed where I tried to dry, then just used one of my soft 100% cotton bath towel. Did a GREAT job, no swirls, nothing. Looks awesome!

I finally ended getting mine from Target as well. The guys at Autopia highly recommend the Vroom brand they carry as the best bang-for-buck MF towels out there.

I picked up the highest quality ones (gray, 2 pack), along with the medium quality ones (orange, 8 pack) and a couple drying ones (yellow, 1 pack). Also grabbed a water blade (california jelly blade?)

We have Costco and Sams Club here in Canada. I've seen them sell MF cloths in the auto dept for about $12 CDN. (approx 10 per pack) I bought a pack and they work well. They arent as absorbent (have to wring it out the MF more often) as a chamois but they are soft. Be sure to remove the tags and wash them before you use them the first time. I probably go thru 3 or 4 each time I wash my car and then wash them before I use them again. I'm still trying to find and waffle weave MF cloth sold in a store not the net.

I dried my 2 day old Jet Black 330i with a chamois and it looked GREAT. Of course, my house has a water softener so that might have a made a difference, but why do people say a MF towel is better than a chamois?

Can a chamois hurt anything?

a good way to test the quality of a MF towel (or any
other towel) is to wipe it on the 'data' side of a
CD ... if it doesn't leave any scratches, than it's likely
not going to leave scratches on the top coat finish of your car.

Don't laugh but someone at Autopia recommended some WW towels from WalMart and I tried them out. They are in the kitchen towel isle and are the Mainstays brand "ultra fine WW". A 2-pak for $2.96 and I bought the only pack they had, they are smaller and thinner than my Meguiars WW but softer and really soak up water well. Some have reported that some of the towels have rough edges where the fiber was sealed by melting it but mine did not. I plan on getting more once they re-stock.

I only use a MF towel when removing wax from the car as per the instructions on the bottom of the container of wax. As for drying the car, I use a leaf blower. An autobody specialist told me once that you should never run a dry towel over your car's paint.

leaf blower?! Right on man - had never thought of that!

MF towels at Costco get the job done - been using them for the last couple of yrs...just remember to avoid machine drying.
