What do I need to get Bluetooth working in my car?
So I recently picked up an e91, 2007. I've been searching through a ton of threads and I seem to get confused as to what I need exactly to be able to connect my phone for telephone services. Last seven are FX15138, which tells me:
S640A Preparation F Telinstallation Universal S676A HiFi Speaker System S693A Preparation BMW Satellite Radio S694A Provisions For BMW 6 CD Changer S645A BMW US Radio S663A Radio BMW Professional So do I have Bluetooth phone or do I need something else to make it work? I apologize if this has been talked about but when I search the threads I see conflicting info saying that a retrofit is necessary, and others saying that the professional radio has telephone built in. Thanks |

The above is a better than a BMW retrofit.(and cheap to) It gives you phone , streaming music , a usb and and sd port. The link in the first few entrys directs you to another box now not the original the new link is towards the end of the thread. If you want to go OEM then a mulf 2 high will give you phone and USB . No streaming music though. The programming is tricky for that though. In all most all US e90's bluetooth phone and usb are handled by and external box or boxes called a TCU/Mulf or Combox. Doesn't matter if you have pro radio or idrive. Tcu only do bluetooth telephone Mulf 2 hi bluetooth phone and usb Combox bluetooth phone and usb plus bluetooth streaming but only if you have the newer idrive. Some years come with a a TCU/Mulf combo the mulf is under the TCU in this case. The box mentioned above in the thread is not made by BMW its not a TCU a Mulf or a combox. So if you have a Bluetooth issue such as mine where I jumped the tcu and my radio came back but not Bluetooth. I bought another tcu and same exact issue, will this Bluetooth streaming allow me to have Bluetooth again? Mine is a 2007

So I have the Mediabridge in my Mini, it runs off the cd changer and provides similar functions. I assume this is the same?
I don't have the Logic7 but I have prep for CDC and SAT... Is this a MOST loop or does the CDC and sat connect through another connection since I have HiFi? I see the box in this link includes a mic, if my car has S640A, do I already have a factory mic? |

If it had active bluetooth before it will have a Mike somewhere.
Not sure if that's part of the pre wiring package in cars from 06 to 09. People genraly have to change the wiring if they go from a TCU to Mulf 2 for the Mike. If you have a TCU you have a mike somewhere. But the bluetooth box has one included. Do a Vin check on your car check for TCU or Mulf 2Hi use the this link https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ put in your model number then look up TCU or Mulf diagram . Also you could read the retrofit Bluetooth sticky at the top of this subforum page. Or this thread with the links https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3540 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1570901 Last edited by ctuna; 02-15-2019 at 02:03 PM.. |

TCU is very prone to failure.... best throw it in a skip where it belongs and upgrade to a Mulf2high or a combox if you want to use BM parts....

mine had a mulf2high (for USB) but no wiring for BT antenna or Mic.... oddly they did run extra wires (most and power) for the cd changer pre wiring... strange bunch at the factory, running some mic wires to the ZFE interior light (is that the right name I forget) and fitting a genuine mic is easy enough. |

I sure do, along with a number of other water activities, I would be extremely interested in this, is it just a spare key? Mine didn't have the spare in the glovebox like the manual described.

Its a plastic key with a encoded chip in it .
Its inserted into a special keyfob shell that's just and empty shell so it can be inserted into the dash to start the car. The key will unlock and lock your car through the key slot on the driver door. https://www.ebay.com/itm/233107629257?ViewItem=&vxp My car came with the dead Fob but not the Key It was about 85 from BMW. https://www.ebay.com/itm/23310762925...m=233107629257 https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=903551 go down to the mashman entry's in the above I put my regular fob inside a mentos box to block the radio signals when I am out in the water. Are you Foiling , Suping , Kiting , windsurfng combinations of the above and surfing? Last edited by ctuna; 02-15-2019 at 05:57 PM.. |

Faraday cage blocks the radio signals .
Since I have comfort access this is needed. yeah I hide it the car somewhere. Then I test to see that I can't open the doors. I am an old longboarder but have been windsurfing about 25 years to still do that. Lately I Sup mostly cause I can't hop up quickly anymore. Can't paddle very far on a longboard either. My surfing hey day was in the mid to late 60's no chord days. Lots of foilers here these days on super short boards and SUP's. |
