Base stereo upgrade to logic7? Or better option?

Hey guys,

I have the crappy base stereo in my e92 and am getting pretty sick of the sub par sound that it has. I wanted to do an easy upgrade and was wondering if the logic7 would be a worthy, budget friendly project. From reading on forums it seems like I need to:
code my iDrive HU to hifi
replace base speakers with logic7 speakers
replace base amp with logic7 amp
add tweeters
Would I have to replace the rear side panels when I get logic7 speakers? I see that the cars that came with logic7, the rear side panels had 2 speaker provisions compared to my 1. Also would I have to create custom wiring for those extra speakers and tweeters?

Any help would be appreciated because I’m a newbie at this audio stuff. Or do you guys recommend a different set of speakers amps etc for a better setup that's PnP?
Thanks
Z

After market is easier than Logic 7 and better if you buy the
right stuff.
You would have to source a Logic 7 harness and run fiberoptics
to the Trunk and reprogram the Head unit for Fiberoptic output.
Also buy new panels for the rear . The BMW tweeter pods are pretty
cheap.

The base system has no amp .
So maybe you are talking about the Hi Fi system.
Although a 2010 US car did get the ampless base system.
(and tweeterless )

For a significant improvement Helix 86dsp or Helix BMW7
and speaker upgrades for at least all the speakers in the Front Doors
and Floors.

Bimmertech has a plug and play package which does pretty much the
same thing.

All this stuff is not inexpensive.
And the Logic 7 system would not be that easy to install
compared to most aftermarket stuff.

I wanted to do an easy upgrade and was wondering if the logic7 would be a worthy, budget friendly project friendly.

- you'd need to code your head unit to logic 7 or get a logic 7 head unit. You would need a set of logic 7 speakers & the MOST LOOP. You'd need a logic 7 amp.

. From reading on forums it seems like I need to:

- no, you will have to add the special trim for the door that holds the tweeters.

I see that the cars that came with logic7, the rear side panels had 2 speaker provisions compared to my 1.

- You will need a 1 7/8 hole saw & the tweeter that goes into the door panel. The backside of the door panel already has provisions for the additional speaker. There is a DIY on this forum, for this.

Also would I have to create custom wiring for those extra speakers and tweeters?

- no, the tweeter plugs into the midbase speaker next to it.

Or do you guys recommend a different set of speakers amps etc for a better setup that's PnP?
Thanks

- Adding the MOST wiring could be rather cumbersome and challenging. If you are a tech type person and good with your hands as far as doing home & car audio goes, you should be ok. You will need to know how to work BMW tools and have a good cable like the Bimmergeeks cable for example.

I recently gutted my entire logic 7 system and went after mkt. almost through out. I have a set of logic 7 speakers for $250.00 plus shipping if you are interested.

All these links are 3-4+ year old so I am not sure if better options are available. To clarify, I do have the base, ampless stereo. I just confirmed that.

I wanted to see if the following pieces would work together to get this system upgraded.

underseat subs: https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-TS-SW...4APETFKEEH95J2

door panel speakers : https://www.amazon.com/JBL-GTO429-Pr...4APETFKEEH95J2

tweeters : https://www.amazon.com/DS18-PRO-TW12...4APETFKEEH95J2

I would use all the spacers from technic along with his full wiring harness. Also instead of the JL cleansweep, I would use LC2i instead : https://www.amazon.com/AudioControl-...r=8-2-fkmrnull

Do these upgrades seem better than logic7? I think I would just need an amp for this setup and speaker wiring to make this setup complete.

They maybe old but they outline the process really well
and the chassis is pretty old. The basic process has not changed.
You need really shallow speakers for the doors and floors
which limits the selection .
If you can recode the Head Unit to Hi Fi out put you don't need
a frequency flattening device.
If I was dong it now I would get a amp/dsp but you need to be
comfortable tuning it or buy a package from bimmertech or bavsound
or possibly Unexpected Creations or MusicarNW to get it pretuned.

There are more and more company's that make speakers that fit
not all of them have been verified here the E92 E93 doors are even
thinner than the e90 e91 so be careful about that.

The Logic 7 amp has 10 percent distortion for the output power chips
at the rated power .
Aftermarket stuff is usually 1 percent or less at rated power.
The Pro's at MusicarNw and Unexpected Creations do not have a
high opinion of the Logic 7 system . Also it's a 9 channel amp if
you have a base system you have to add a center speaker for the dash
and two more mid and tweeter holes each.

LCI is useless old tech.

If you are looking to upgrade the speakers, Bav sound, logic 7 or BMW Individual Audio (IA) would be your best bet as far as plug & play. With logic 7 speakers, you have to be careful not to amp them too much. They are 2ohm but can't take more than maybe 50-60 watts a channel. The BMW Individual Audio speakers can take 75 watts a channel very easily.

The only thing about the Logic 7 & from what I understand regarding the BMW IA is that the under the seat subs are horrible.

You really need a mid-base type under the seat sub that plays 40 to 500mhz and then get a 10" corner mounted sub in the trunk to play the real base.

I am $500 into my F series Logic 7 Retrofit. If you want to make a wiring harness I believe it would be a cost effective option for a proper system with an amp.

Well, at least he's honest about a budget. That sets up the parameters as you could easily spend a few grand getting something together.
