Comfort access... Help!
Hi all
I was hoping if you could help me with a problem which I can't seem to solve. My comfort access has stopped working. A few points:
Does anyone have any clues about how I can get my comfort access working again? Or any trouble shooting ideas? Thanks |

Before you do anything on these car's check the resting
battery voltage for the car it should be above 12.4 . Also I suppose you are aware you can change the battery's in the CA Fobs. If you put on window tint it may kill remote functions . |

Battery voltage at rest is reading 12.36 after being off for a couple of days. Is this a cause for concern?
The battery's in the key fobs have been checked. |

That is good enough for voltage.
Typical problems with CA are the diversity antenna , Or other CA antenna's or the CA module. I believe the CA module is in the battery area on the side above the battery. Use the following links to check . Also check the relevant fuses. Sometimes water leaks can take out electronic modules if you have had a down poor check for water in all area's of the trunk. See second electrical pdf for comfort access details. electical e90 pdf http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.cGU&cad=rja http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU georges links https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/at...9&d=1539905743 Last edited by ctuna; 02-26-2019 at 02:26 PM.. |

I had a similar issue when I bought my car(used). Replaced the battery in the fob with an unused one, but one that sat in a drawer for a while. Things didn't work and I thought there was a problem with either the fob, or the CA system. As a last resort before getting gouged at the dealer, I went and bought a fresh, new fob battery.. boom, all working and has been for a year now.
So, go buy a fresh new battery for the fob before doing anymore troubleshooting. |

People have mentioned before that Autozone has a signal
detector for Fobs. Also you can get those cr2032 battery's dirt cheap on ebay . Be sure to put them in with the proper side facing up. I believe he said he measured his fob battery's they should be around 3.6 Volts fresh. |

Thanks for the tips.
I changed the batteries to brand new key fob batteries, measured it out the box too, which read 3.3volts Tried on both key fobs, no good. I think we may be able to rule out key fob issues. Next I might try the fuses... Gotta feeling this is gonna be a long one! |

Hey,
Sorry I didn't mention it - it's non functional on both doors + keyless engine start, so pretty much fully non functional. One further thing to mention is my rear defroster is throwing up a code and not working either. I have read somewhere that could be signs of misbehaving car battery. |

Could be the diversity antenna.
or CA module. See pdf 2 for block diagram of CA access. Don't know about convertibles but broken wiring in the Roof might be the issue. electical e90 pdf http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.cGU&cad=rja http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU To drill down further https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ georges links https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/at...9&d=1539905743 Always make sure you have a strong battery before doing anything on these cars. You will get all kinds of ghosts in the car and bad diag readings if you don't. Last edited by ctuna; 03-06-2019 at 01:48 PM.. |
