North Carolina Tint Enforcement
NC e90post members, I need some help. I am moving to North Carolina in December and would like to know if tint laws are strictly enforced. Arkansas does not care and I currently have 20% except for the windshield. Are there any ways to get around them?

NC requires yearly inspection and they check your tint at that time. People do get around it though.
Mine is legal, but it costs extra at inspection time for them to check it. I didn't mention it this year and they didn't charge me, so I guess they didn't actually check it.

+1 to the guy above. I have 35% legal tint, and have to pay an extra fee and have the tint pass inspection before you can renew your tag every year. Pretty hard to get around that unless you know someone that does inspections and would be willing to let you slide.

I just got my e93 inspected in JoCo, NC. The Inspection center [its on the side of a gas station and not a full mech shop] didnt charge me any extra for the tint. Honestly, they looked bothered that someone would interrupt their day by wanting an inspection done, lol. Basically, all they did was hook up OBD II, and check my light bulbs for function. Didnt say a word about the tint. Drive around down here long enough and you'll see tons of cars with <20% tint and "eyebrows". Ask one of them where they go.

I bought an E46 out of state with 20% tint already applied. I didn't wanna remove it and pay for a new tint job. I never got pulled over in 4 years. Inspections guys didn't seem to care either.
