Just for grins, I tried waxing the shadowline trim and door seal as described... all I had in the house was some liquid turtle wax, but my ride to work was TREMENDOUSLY quieter.
If the squeak comes back I'll go get some better hard wax at the auto parts store and see how that does. Thanks again for the suggestions, guys. |

Still squeak-free since 2/19! If it lasts as long as my regular auto wax cycles of 4-6 months, I'll probably consider it a permanent enough fix.

We also have a rubber care stick available from Wurth that seems to take care of most of these issues and helps maintain the seals:

squeak
I purchased a 2006 CPO a few weeks ago and found the squeek to be quite strange. Not even my 98 Civic squeeks that much. I took it to 2 different dealerships in the area to resolve, but none could properly fix.
They claimed to have cleaned some adhesive on the seal, but the squeak would come back after a rainy day or after a few days of leaving the dealer. It was only until the 3rd visit (yes 3X) I took it back that they replaced the door seals on the drivers side -- thankfully this did fix the issue. However my right side was acting up... With frustration at an all-time high, I read this thread and tried what 328idogg recommended (terrific screenshots), and yes he was right. Turtle Hard Wax liquid and Vinylex works like a charm. Vinylex I found @ PepBoys, and the process takes less than 10 minutes to do. |

I have had this problem on both my E46 320D & my new E90 320D. The reason I bought the E90 was due to the fact that Scotthall BMW couldnt rectify the 'rattly door' issue even with the Teflon tape that just snarled itself up and made a right mess. Within the first few days of being the 'proud' owner of an E90, the car was returned for the very same fault. I havent had time to take the car back for 18 months but with it beginning to sound like a 20 year old taxi, and getting absolutely no driving pleasure from it, I searched the internet and found that I was not the only one with an rattly car. I found that putting a PTFE lubricant on the seals quietened the doors down by around 90%, the other issues were rattly dash, rattly parcel shelf, rattly centre console (under the air con controls) and rattly A pillars. (Not been lucky have I?) Scotthall BMW had the car in a few weeks ago when I finally managed to get some time off and cleaned and 'resat' the seals but three weeks later they are beginning to creak/moan again. I have booked the car in again and given Scotthall an ultimatum that they should provide a permanant repair or take the car back. Its only just gone 2! Has anyone had any real joy (forgive the pun) at getting this problem fixed without having to resort to applying lubricants to the seals?

OT... This 335d is by far the best overall well rounded daily driver I have ever owned. What a car!

Does anyone have a recording on what this creaking sounds like or describe what it is like?
I've taken my car to the dealership 4 times to fix this and still not fix. I'd be curious to know if mine sounds the same. Thanks |

Well mine has been squeaking a while in the drivers side and I was told it may be a suspension bush. After reading this I'm wondering if it's the door seal anyone know how much BMW charge for a new in UK ?

A few days since applying it to the Shadowline, a bit of creak has returned, if intermittently. I don't report this to discourage people from trying to wax the tim (there could be several reasons for my experience), but rather to affirm the (at least short term) value of just using Vinylex on both the door seal and the trim. That worked on its own for at least a couple weeks. And I note it is available in disposable wipe form, making it pretty convenient to use and keep on hand... |

I took my 2010 335i into the dealership when I only had 1,500 miles on it and they told me it was the 3rd party window tinting causing the noise. They lubed the seals in the meantime and the noise disappeared for a couple of hours. Then, I took my car to another dealer for the first maintenance warranty and noted the noised. Not sure what they lubed the seals with but the noise has been gone a week so far. SO NICE! The Service Coordinator admitted it is a known issue and if the noise comes back, they will have the seals replaced. I asked them for the name of what they use but he did not know. Anyway, I;ll look into some Wurth and the other products mentioned. Wish I went to that dealer about 13k miles ago

Have been skimming this thread waiting for someone to post '1z Gummi Pfledge' it is the cure for squeaky door seals:
http://www.1z-usa.com/einszett_gummi_pflege.html Also, do not wax the door jambs and never put silicone on the rubber door seals. Another good product is AutoGlym Rubber and Vinyl care. http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product...l.asp?v06VQ=HE |

The title of this thread should be revised, possibly made a sticky... as it apparently applies to all E90 E92, all years, possibly all models!
I have 14,000 miles on a 2011 335D sport pkg, shadowline. All four doors creak like a concert, 24-7. My car is garage kept for weeks at a time. Maybe it sits outside a night or two while traveling. Neither make a difference to the concert I'm hearing. -> I hand wash my car once a week. Then spray wax it. I'm curious if those who have the major squeaking (from all doors) are those who are washing as often as I. (although I do imagine some here detail every other day! I haven't tried anything yet. But all of my clients, friends (enthusiasts or not), everyone says, wow this car is amazing, but the creaking sounds are terrible, wtf. My seals don't appear to be dried up or damaged. They seem to be in excellent condition. The noises I'm hearing are constant and all speeds, even on smooth even highways, driving straight away, at cruising speed. Thank you to everyone who has suggested fixes and keep us updated. Thank you 328idogg for the pics or where exactly to apply! However... Quote:

One person, in this thread or another, mentioned he lubbed the door hinges and it helped. Anyone else care to comment on this? I use a product DOW CORNING 111. valve lubricant and sealant - on rubber seals for my convertible/hard top/soft top jeep wrangler. the hard top seals (similar to a targa) are terrible and dry out. this product works well and shares the main ingredient as the gummi product , polydimethylsiloxane, great word4friends word eh?

di-electric grease silenced my rear right seal for almost 8 month. It is a lot more efficient that regular seal grease, but is not dry and lets residues everywhere. Really to be used on the exact area that's causing noise problem. For the rest I use gummy pfledge, so far it has kept my seals supple without putting grease all around the place so I am happy. Got it on the cheap from amazon.
