No radio or sounds
I recently purchased a 2008 E91. The radio and chimes were working fine then they suddenly stopped working.
I have the following in the car S663A Radio BMW Professional S694A Provisions For BMW 6 CD Changer S698A AreaCode 2 For DVD Reading on here I checked for an amp in the boot and for other items under the boot carpet and I dont have either (I'm assuming they don't come with my spec) I also read about the MOST bus so I have found the connections in the boot, under the dashboard and in the back of the stereo (none are lit up) will these not be connected on my model? I have checked the radio fuses in the glovebox and in the back of the stereo and they all are fine. I have also put my battery on a trickle charge incase it was low and was effecting the IBS. Is there anything else I can try before taking it to the garage? Thanks |

Is Newcastle in the US or Europe?
Because all US cars between 06 and 2010 came with either option 676 or 677 both of which had amps . In Europe or the Rest of the World you could have the ampless base system which also has no tweeters in the most noticeable in there absence from the front door sills. If there are no devices on the Most Bus there is no need for it to be turned on . I understand some Euro cars come like this. Do you have a voltmeter ? If you do take it to a garage as you call it be sure they do BMW's and ask them about your situation because most places don't know how to work on a BMW. If you want to diagnose and repair problems yourself I suggest getting the Bimmergeeks cable and setting up coding and diagnostic ability on a PC. Last edited by ctuna; 03-09-2019 at 11:35 AM.. |

Thanks for replying.
Sorry it's Newcastle in Europe (UK) No there is no display on the radio. I have a voltmeter although I am unsure how to test the radio with it. Can I order a cable to be delivered to the UK? Thanks |

If you are in Europe you probably have a base radio did you check
for tweeters in the corner of the front door sills. If you have no options such as bluetooth phone , Sos , Sat radio or DAB you might have a radio or idrive in which there is no need for a Most Bus and its turned off at the Head Unit or some cases they have radio's that don't even have the Most Bus built into the Radio. You will have to talk to Bimmergeeks.net about shipping options you probably can get a K/Dcan cable locally just look on ebay or the UK sub forum here. The bimmergeeks cable is favored for quality and reliability. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...-radio/Z5oUWWA http://pinoutguide.com/Car-Stereo-Au...3_pinout.shtml Check for 12 volts at pin 15 (see above pin out) Your original conclusion that the IBS is messing with you may be right. If the radio is not lighting up there is no point in condisdering anything on the Most Bus which you may not have anyway. georges links https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/at...9&d=1539905743 diagnostic manual ista/inpa https://bimmerprofs.com/diagnostics-inpa-part-1/ https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...xo19teM9vkTF-C https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...7x8H3pN8h1fMuF https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-P-actually-do electical e90 pdf http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.cGU&cad=rja http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU If you get a cable you can read the Rad2 file for the parameter Ring Status aktiv or nicht aktiv. Which means most bus on or off. Last edited by ctuna; 03-09-2019 at 02:09 PM.. |

Alway's better to measure things for a Sanity
check. You could also bench test the Radio with a 12 Volt source. They pre wired cars in the US from 06 to 09 in this series. doesn't mean anything is hooked up to the wiring though. |
