Ryobi 10 In. Orbital Buffer, what do you think?

Just picked this baby up to cut down on my time waxing my 335i and my fiance's 328i. Any feedback on this product or advice/tips? Thanks!

I believe this one only goes to 3500 OPMS, and you cannot adjust it. I think that it can bog down pretty easily from other posts that I have read.

It is cheap though, so It can't hurt to try if you are a regular joe like me. I was tempted to buy it at Home Depot, but decided against it after about 45 minutes of debating in my head.

The buffer is probably fine for spreading a glaze, sealant or wax. Just make sure you are using quality bonnets, terry cloth ones can often be too coarse and can mar and swirl the paint up. Chances are it does not have enough power to properly break down a polish and your stuck with massive 10" pads that are difficult to work with.

As mentioned above I would only use something like that to apply sealant or Wax...I wouldnt attempt to use it for polish. It might be hard to find a nice bonnet for that too so make sure u find a quality MF one!!

i planned on using the applicator bonnet to spread wax and then use the polishing bonnet to remove the haze and buff the wax on! hope that is ok with you pro's!

To be honest it going to end up swirling you're paint, those applicator bonnets can be rough. Wax isn't hard to put on and buff off unless you put too much. Even most pros will do it by hand. Besides with how big that thing is, you wont be able to do many parts of the car where it is tighter. I say return it and at the very least get a porter cable.

Many years ago I purchased something very similar to this, but it was a different brand. I also purchased the 100% terry towels caps that go over the foam part, but I truely believe that it left swirl marks on the surface. I think the terry towels were too harsh. I have never used it since (especially not on the 335). Since I only detail my car couple of times a year, I just do it by hand.
