Fixed: Lost all sound
Got an issue when I took the CCC head unit out during an install of my ECS boost gage. The boost gage required splicing into the 12V socket and one of the controls for the A/C, meaning nothing (including any wires) were touched going into the main unit.
I have the following multi-media options: S609A Navigation System Professional S620A Voice Control S639A Preparation F Mobile Phone Cpl USACDN S677A HiFi System Professional DSP S693A Preparation BMW Satellite Radio S694A Provisions For BMW 6 CD Changer S645A BMW US Radio Symptoms: No sound at all, no bongs nothing. SOS malfunction light comes on. What I've tried: 1) disconnecting and reconnecting the head unit. meaning all wires confirmed on tightly and fuse in the harness is good. 2)bought a MOST Fiber Optic Cable Loop Connector and jumpered out the amp. Still got the SOS malfunction and obviously no sound. Then I jumpered out the SOS module (forgot what it's called) and plugged the amp back in. Still no sound (and obviously got the SOS malfunction error) I feel like I'm out of ideas. Everything comes up fine on the CCC display, can navigate using the idrive controller no problem, just no sound. Also no engine codes (not that I think it matters but just incase) What else can I try? Last edited by jokers_greg; 03-22-2019 at 07:33 PM.. |

Note: I did do the install of the gage while I had the battery disconnected. It seems to have affected nothing else though. Not sure how I can tell if something's blown?

Have not yet looked at radio fuse in the main glove box, which #'s should I check? Given my S677A option I'm assuming I have the Top-HIFI system?

A test port on the panel underneath the steering wheel is intriguing. I'm assuming the connector looks exactly like the one on the L7 amp? I haven't clicked through all of your links yet but if its in one of those I'm sorry haha EDIT: I watched the video in your second link showing someone troubleshoot their MOST network. I can see that test port connection there, but is it supposed to be disconnected? |

Confirmed: I'm an idiot.
Many thanks to ctuna for his help. It was indeed that test port in the driver foot panel under the steering wheel. I had not connected the loop back and since it is a daisy chain essentially, I cut the loop and therefore had no sound. Re-connected the fiber optic connector and presto I'm back in business! |

I think being a Human being comes with being and Idiot.
Some times it's hard to be logical . When you been messing with something and it goes bad you may have urge to go look at something else when you come up blank. Remember to clean your sunroof drains so your amp and battery don't drown . Last edited by ctuna; 03-22-2019 at 10:37 PM.. |

Haha lesson learned: finish a job as soon as you can before you forget what you disconnected! |
