help with oil filter

I am trying to change me e90 oil and can not budge the oil filter. I tried a strap wrench, but no luck. Here is my stupid question, you do turn it in the direction of the arrow, clockwise, right?

Lefty loosey.

You've been tightening the filter housing. Turn it counterclockwise to remove it.
