Help out an audio noob with some basic questions!
Sorry if these questions are a bit basic and/or have been answered elsewhere. I've had a read around on the forums but most of the content is way beyond my level of understanding of car audio, and also seems to be more involved than what I'm trying to do.
My 2008 E92 has a JVC KW-V235DBT (https://uk.jvc.com/car-entertainment...ia/KW-V235DBT/) aftermarket head unit installed, which I'm reliably informed by the previous owner was carried out by a local car audio specialist. The steering wheel controls and parking sensors still work, although these can be a bit quiet (I think the volume of these could be changed through the original stereo but obviously now I can't do that - if anyone could shed some light on how I could do this that would be welcome as well). There is also a DAB aerial installed which is great. I'm looking to replace the head unit with an Apple CarPlay capable unit and retain the DAB functionality, using either: JVC KW-M745DBT https://uk.jvc.com/features/car/kwm745dbt/ or Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB https://www.pioneer-car.eu/uk/products/sph-da230dab I've watched videos of the head unit being replaced and am fairly adept to this sort of stuff so am confident I can do this myself once I have all the necessary cables etc. I rang the audio centre that fitted the current head unit and they said it would be £100+ for fitting the new one, which seems a bit steep to be honest since it appears to be a straight forward swap. If I cock it up I can still just take it to them. Having a look around online and in the manuals for these units, it's hard for a novice to work out exactly which cables/adapters are required to fit either into my car. If I went with the JVC, what are the chances that no extra cables would be required, since it is the same manufacturer as the current unit? Similarly, if I choose the Pioneer, which cables would I require? TIA |
