As the weather turns better I finally have the change to install the 3 stage intake manifold. As I couldn't find a review on the BimmerLabs tune here I guess I'm the first one to post this?
Instruction I used: https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tec...eplacement.htm The only differences is picture 18, the yellow arrow points to two disa connectors, and you'll have to connect them to the DISA module on the new intake manifold, one cable is longer goes to the DISA near your engine body, the shorter one goes to another DISA close to the air box, don't worry you will not be able to plug them to the wrong module (I actually tried that). I sourced my parts from a Chinese spec 2011 330i for 2000¥, I heard some says the DISA can fail with age, so I opt for a newer one and brought them to Canada, I haven't realized the DISA is not secured on the intake manifold but luckily my local dealer had the screws in stock, I suggest you buying all the screws for the DISA if you're not sure the seller includes them, as well as new intake manifold gasket. Installation takes about 6hr follows the pelican instruction. For Bimmerlabs stock 330i Tune, Bimmerlabs says it is European 200kw tune, in my opinion it's great, 200kw (272 metric hp, 268 imperial hp) is actually more than many other N52 tunes. I flashed them before I installed the manifold and it makes more low end torque immediately. To take the full advantage of the flash file the 3-stage intake manifold is required, I can feel the output become weeker once you reach 6000rpm with the stock manifold. With the 3IM the higher end power is definitely improved. The only sweet range of this NA engine is the high end rpm and now I can go all the way to 7000 rpm on 3rd gear when the road is clear. I'm thinking to dyno this result and a local shop quoted me $140 CDN (RWD price, AWD charges more), I have no idea what a dyno pull costs, please let me know if this is a reasonable price, I located in Toronto. If there's anything impressed me, that would be the intake valve and throttle body, they looks almost new, thanks to the Valvetronic and port injection. My dad's car equipped with EA888 gen 2 (with direct injection)and last time he did the walnut cleaning the intake looks disgusting to me. My engine has 170k km on them. |

$140 CAD for 3 pulls (I assume) seems reasonable. I paid $90 CAD for 3 pulls on a Dynapack during a dyno day event almost 10 years ago.

Champion Motorsports charged $100 for 3 pulls. give them a call. They're extremely busy though so you may be better of at the other shop if you're looking to do it soon.
