Dash cam battery draw?
Hi all,
I just picked up a A119 dash cam, And was wondering what draw it would have if I wired it to a constant hot wire? It has motion detection so I'd like that as a security alarm of sorts while I'm asleep/ away from the car.

Modern hard wire kits now have prettt good battery minimum cut offs built into them, so the camera will stop filming when it reaches under a preset voltage. Thus stopping your battery going dead. So You can then wire it to a constant and a switched power supply for parking protection.

I am thinking of getting the TOGUARD Backup Dash Cam. One of the features that interest me is this:
"Parking Monitor & G-Sensor. Toguard 7 car smart mirror. Triggered by the Parking Monitor (someone crashes into your car), the mirror dashcam will automatically turn on itself and record when the vehicle is parked" About battery issues, I still have not figured that part out. Any experiences would help Last edited by fxguru; 04-14-2019 at 08:52 AM.. |

As Supermonkeyballs said, most good hardwire kits manage battery cutoffs well.
I went with a different approach and use a dashcam battery pack instead. Hardwired to a switched outlet it charges and power the dashcam while there's vehicle power and runs the dashcam in parking mode from its battery when the car's parked. You can see my post on it here: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...4&postcount=11 |
