Rough Shift - Steptronic

Just curious if anyone else had had this problem. Specifically, If cruising at ~80mph in 5th gear, in DS mode...flooring it (kick-down) gives me a fairly jarring shift to 3rd.

Much rougher than any other shifts I've experienced at other speeds.

Other than this, the step drives really nice

I'm tempted to go on a test drive with a new 335 to see if I can duplicate this, but figured I'd ask here first. I'm kinda hoping it has more to do with the powerband and shiftpoint, than my transmission (or diff).

Thanks!

Try this. I did it the other day. I don't know if this will help with what you're feeling, but it wouldn't hurt either.

I will do some testing tomorrow but I believe it has to do with using the kickdown and having more power than stock .....

This happenned to me several times on a long 14 hour highway trip. Before this always smooth downshifts. For this particular long trip whether DS or D, when it downshifted to 5th or 4th from about 75-80 mph, the shift was very hard with a thump. I did not activate the kickdown. Up shifts were fine. SSTT giving too much juice to the trans? Maybe not cus ever since the trip I haven't been able to duplicate the hard downshifts. Hmm....

haha im sure there are people with more power then your SSTT giving it to the trans. try disconnecting the battery for a hour and re-connect. resets tranny adapting, or just take it in to the dealer.

Well, I never noticed this problem until taking the car for a 4 hour road trip.

My car is totally stock...I have no SSTT or anything else, but it pulls better than I expected 80+ (thump and all).
