Dangers of driving with leaky injectors?

So i've narrowed down my cold start misfires to leaky injectors. Now the real question is should i avoid driving the car until i get new injectors or is it better ot be driving it to burn off the extra fuel being dumped into the cylinder every day?

I'm not sure what the dangers are if any, and i just want to do whats best for the car.

Thanks!

It can dilute the oil causing the bearings to spin and other bottom end damage. Don't risk it.

how would the fuel be diluted if I'm running rich? Sorry I don't understand. I can hear burbling when letting off from 2500rpm in second gear

Sorry, I meant to type oil. It washes the cylinders with gas acting as a solvent to the oil below.

yeah not really happy about that.. but I should be getting them replaced by next week so I don't know if it's a big deal to drive it for another 3 days

You'll be completely fine, well past the 3 day period.

Do you think it makes a difference if he drives it long enough to get the oil temperatures up on each drive?

If the oil temp hits 240-250 each time, it's likely most of the gasoline collecting in the oil will evaporate. Really, how much gasoline really leaks into the pan each cycle?

Still not good for the overall properties of the oil and the washed cylinder walls are worrisome.

I had an injector fail the day before yesterday, total failure. Where it was stuck open. I put 5 miles on the car prior to parking it and then started it yesterday morning. The car had a terrible stumble from misfire, white smoke and fresh fuel dripping from the exhaust. I actually lost so much fuel that the fuel gauge when down a tick mark.. this thing must have been flowing all the time it was sitting. When trying to diagnose which cylinder it actually locked the motor until I pulled the number 6 plug. I could actually see fuel puddling on the piston with my flashlight.

damn that's a really bad case. I dropped mine off at the garage not worth taking any risks. it's an expensive repair but will be worth it in the end. good luck!

Had a similar thing happen, car was completely undriveable. Good news is that the open injector can only vent what fuel is under pressure and what can leak down because of gravity.

I would estimate about a gallon of fuel went through the system because of the fuel out of the pipes and the hit it made on my fuel economy. I keep meticulous records of my fuel usage in my 335i and 118i.
