recommendations as far as what tracks or where to sign up for track events?

There are many organizations that organize track days at tracks all over california, from button willow all the way to laguna seca. You can check there sites for there full schedule.

Some that come to mind are, Redline Track Events, Speedventures, NASA. I know there is quite a few that im missing but these are the ones off the top of my head. You can also just sign up for BMW CCA because they hold there own track days as well.

Not anything in the Temecula valley. I'm thinking of signing up for the Speedventures track day on May 3rd, California Speedway. Check it out. Trying to get My brother-in-law to track his Elise as well. This will be my first time tracking....so Beginner slow poke bracket for me.

AUTO-X (like at Qualcomm) doesn't interest me that much...I hear you don't get out of 2nd gear?

There is a good HPDE/School sponsored by the Central CA BMW CCA on May 30. I posted about it in this forum.

The BMW CCA is your best bet IMHO. They run a safe, well organized event with high quality instruction and reasonable prices. You can also take a look at http://www.drivingconcepts.com for another choice. While pricey, their schools are outstanding!

Good luck.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! I am also a beginner at tracking, but have raced other things so I'm hoping it will be a great experience. I will look into all of those suggested. Hope to see some of you out there!

I like the So Cal BMW club events. NASA also because they get good track dates. Not racing, but performance driving.
