Service Indicator functioning? Oil change showing 15000 regardless my actual mileage?
My car has about 1400 miles on it, whenever i press the service indicator to see next oil change period, it keep stating 15000 and 05/2009...shouldnt it supposed to show 13600miles by now? is the counter wrong?

It's showing the mileage to go before changing, not the miles at which to change.

Dont you mean that it shows the mileage at which to change (15000) and not mileage to go before you need to change. My car does the same shows 15000, i think if the cpu decides based on driving conditions etc that it needs to be sooner then this, then the number will be different ie 10000 etc.

I have over 4000 miles now and my next service indicator says 13000. It did take along time to show any changes. I drive pretty easy, so I figure based on my driving style, it will take longer until the next service interval. Regardless, I am still changing oil at 7500.

Same here. I'm currently at 6900 miles and my counter shows 11000 3/2009. Also did my after break-in oil change at 5120 miles. All systems a go!
Give your car a little time to adjust. It'll be fine.

Mine was down around 13k or so, and after driving really hard for a few more weeks, it shot up to 18k and hasn't changed for a couple weeks. I dont really know why.

Same boat here... 4300 miles, and mine says 12000 and 3/09. The date part freaked me out. Why does the car not just put the date as 12 months after the last change, since they say not to go more than ayear, even if you don't hit your milage requirement.

I have around 4200 miles and it says to change at 9000. Am I driving too agressively?? I drive in stop and go traffic 80% of the time so maybe that's it?

I had finally caught up to my counter. It kept growing every day for a while there. It finally stopped at 26,000 km's or about 16K miles. BMW told me either the mileage it says or 1 year, which ever comes last, but they were nice enough to do it early and break rules. I didn't want to have to pay for another oil change since i did 2 already on my own.
I also bought a BMW air filter and it cost about 34 cdn$ after my BMW club discount. Pretty cheap! |

and serviced the oil change. I know the synthetic oils now days are better quality but 18,000 mile between oil changes is kinda insane. I decided that I am gonna do interval oil changes between my regular services just so I can keep the turbos freshly oiled.

I finally got the service alert for an oil change.
I'm at 16k now. I did change the oil at 7K and will continue to do it every year.
