2010 335d no start, turns over and dies out.

I have a 2010 335d the will sometimes start but struggles to start and most of the time will die out. After one or two tries it will just crank and not fire at all. It seems to start after it has sat for a hour or so but again it struggles to fire up. There is also a ticking noise that seems to be coming from behind the exhaust pressure sensor which I recently replaced because it had been burnt through. Once that car is started it seems to run fines and does not stall. I feel like the the turbos are not spinning up and I am getting poorer gas mileage although I could be imagining that. Could this be fuel filter or pump or glow plugs? Here are the codes I am seeing. Any help is greatly apprectaited.

Code P040C indicates a fault period in the the Exhaust Gas Rectrculation Temperature Sensor 'A' electlical circuit for a for a period of time

Check ground straps from the engine to the body. And check for melted wire insulation in the area the sensor was burnt.

The insulation on the harness just below the sensor is melted but none of the wires seemed to be damaged. Could that be the problem? Do I need to replace the whole harness? Can I wrap it with something? Thanks for the feedback!!!!
