MMP 1000k turbos - thoughts?
Hi all,
Half way through a big overhall on my 335i. Everythings off at the moment and due to get my original turbos back in a week after a full refurb, new cores, the works. A local N54 specialist in England (PMP Cars, Nuneaton) posted a few pics of a E90 getting some 1000hp rated twins fitted, MMP 100k. Seriously got me thinking, while Im in there I may as well save up for a pair of these! Rumours are with just a stage 2 LPFP your good for 550+ on their 2 inch inlets/outlets. Wondered what everyones thoughts are and if anyones running them? Fozz

Might want to do some research on some of the other forums. I'd stay away from MMP personally.

I have the regular MMP s3 turbos. The 1ks are the same wheels and chra just a different turbine housing and manifold. Currently the mmp record is held by regular s3s, I've not seen a good high power Dyno from the 1ks. They seem to have excessive lag from what I've seen.
My turbos have been ok, but I know plenty of people that have had issues and getting proper support while under warranty can be difficult. I would recommend looking at the RB game finisher or Hydra performance hp800s for some good hybrids. |

I know a guy who has a set, he doesnt enjoy how laggy they are, comes on boost around 4500 rpm which is fine for a race car not so for a street car..

One thing to consider is boost is not what you should be concerned with, but power. If you are making more power but with less boost, that's a good thing, and should be expected due to less restrictions from bigger manifolds and turbine housing, but alas, I haven't seen the improved per at lower boost play out in most dynos of the 1ks.

Every owner of the 1k I've spoken with has disliked how laggy they were compared to the stage 3. They don't spool at least not on a stock engine. I have MMP3's and would probably advise you to just go with Pures as the reliability is better and you can make the same power with their Hi-Flow units.
