I was planning on getting the flash and exhaust but the service manager told me that he was told that Dinan's flash along with every other chip sets off something in the emissions system and won't pass smog. He was notified about this yesterday and he won't know if it applies to Dinan reflashes for a couple days. He said he is looking more into it but until then he won't install(perform) any engine management system changes. Has anyone else heard about this?

BTW, I will post some pics of the car tomorrow after I get a chance to. I am pumped up to have the car now.

here in illinois, they use obd2 port and you can pass with flash and piggyback as long as you don't have any CEL.

What is the build date of your car, March 08 by any chance? I dont think he meant it wont pass smog, I think he meant it has the new encryption which could mean you are pretty well fuked until a work around is available.

It just came in yesterday and I picked it up. It was probably built a couple weeks ago. They grabbed it from another dealer I think.

it seems that anything with a march 2008 or later build has something different with the ecu that can detect any kind of tampering and dinan hasnt developed anything for it yet. its on dinans site

Their site says to "it is best to check the DME label". Anyone know how to easily do this?

He is wrong. Basically he is half-right, half-completely wrong. All of his information is jumbled up. See some of the other threads about the new updated DME to get a feel for what is happening, then you can go tell the service manager he's an idiot.
