Dash Cam power source?

I have fitted a couple of Blackvue dash cams to our other two cars, one Landcruiser and a VW Tiguan. Both run fine and detect movement and record as required.

When I purchased the Blackvue for the 320D, the guy convinced me to have him fit it, "don't want to blow the computer" etc. It does have the power magic pro black box fitted.

So I let him fit it, he was finished in 30mins. Problem is the dash cam powers down after about 10mins and has NO power, so even though its set to detect movement there is zero power available to it.

To those that have fitted dash cams and like them to detect movement and switch on, where have you taken the power source from? These guys took it from the fuse box near the glove box. I would have thought the best place was the battery and run cables accordingly.

Maybe they weren't aware of the car shutting down after 10mins parked?

Sounds like they took power from terminal 30g instead of terminal 30

Terminal 30g - shutoff after around 30 minutes
Terminal 30 - permanent power

Just need to tap it off a different fuse

Determine which fuse number/location your dash cam is drawing power from. Pending on the supply, it could be either constant or switchable. I've got mine connected via an empty constant supply. I referenced the below DIY when hardwired the dash cam. Very helpful.
