2F49 - EWS Manipulation Protection
Has anyone got this code before?
started my car after work and it wouldn't turn over, turn it off and start it again and it started and my p3 gauge pick this code up?? From my research it is something to do with the immobiliser? Anyone know why it would trigger this code? I tried searching here and couldn't find anything useful |

You'll have to check codes in the EWS/CAS as well. I'm thinking it is probably just a temporary glitch. If the problem persists, it is probably a CAS/EWS problem. Whatever happened, it registered a corresponding code in the DME as well.

Interesting.
I started my car this morning to get to work and no issues at all hopefully it was a one off glitch... Otherwise I would have to figure out how to check the code in the EWS. |

I've got the same error code too, except mine will not fire up?
Starter motor kicks in but no fire - it's the only code that remains and keeps coming back after clearing the others... |

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes, then reconnect, insert key, and try again. Or try a different key. If a different key works, then your key may be bad. Or if none of these work, then the CAS has some sort of problem, which triggers the EWS tampering code in the ECU. I think it sounds more like a CAS/EWS problem, not an ECU problem.
If the car doesn't start, you'll have to have it towed to a shop to diagnose. Sorry for the bad news.
