Clean it maybe? I seriously don't understand this post. What is the issue, is it peeling? Is it damaged? Did you check with the dealer if so? Damaged/ peeling interior trim should be covered under factory warranty.

Its a common issue where our door panels are sticky, cleaning isnt so easily is like gluey stuff on there. Just curious if any1 has a resolution to this.

I paid like $20-40 front the dealer to get a new one. They are now 100% plastic which eliminates the sticky issue. I was willing to pay the cost to get rid of the problem.

I had to remove the door panel, and there were 3-4 screws on the back side. The new handle comes in two pieces. You have to buy the hardware kit that comes with it as well $5-10 extra (if that). The dealer can show you a parts breakout to give you a better idea. The only thing I had to modify was the plastic post that the screws went into. I had to cut nearly 1/8" off so the screw would actually tighten. I would suggest trying before you trim it just to confirm.

Would be a good idea, as I'm sure this isn't an isolated problem. Did you have to trim the plastic post as well?

I'm still waiting for it to come in the mail, big coincidence that some other guy in town needed the same stuff so the bmw sales person thought it was me and sold it to him.

One part # is 51-41-6-971-290. I'm not sure if that's the inner or outer piece, but both will have to be replaced if I'm not mistaken. You will also need to get the hardware kit since I believe it has a slightly different assembly compared to OEM.

Honestly save a few bucks and you can get washers and screws at the local store, I didnt do a DIY but it was a pain in the ass taking off the plastic rivets. The new piece came in and you have to trim it down. And part numbers are different since we all have different color interior. Call the dealership let them run your vin and they will decode it and give u correct part numbers. Just skip getting the washers.

Yeah, I forgot to mention about having to drill the center out of the rivet. Agree with getting hardware somewhere else, and diff PNs makes sense.

I just posted a DIY that doesn't involve rivets or melting plastic - just nuts and bolts. It was very easy and better than new. Here is link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=548035

Good luck!

There is an easy DIY solution to BMW sticky interior door handles, just wrap them with leather and forget that the problem ever existed, have a look at this video

The effect looks like this:

Installation instruction:

These are also available for the 5 Series F10, X5 E70, X6 E71, 3 Series F30 and others.

Hope this helps someone.
