Servicing Auto Transmission

Hi all,

Coming close to 90k now. So i'm looking into changing the Transmission pan filter/fluid soon.
Just wondering if you all end up doing the sleeves/seals while your at it? Not sure its worth doing at this km's?

For fluid i know ZF has some scare tactics if you use anything but. Has anyone used Penrite BMV or maybe Nulon SYNATF
or should i go the usual Pentosin ATF1? (not easy to get though)

Replacing the seals is dependent on a preference of preventive or reactive maintenance. Hours of operation versus life of the unit is also a consideration given the age of the vehicle.

ZF have at least 25 different approved ATF that can be used not including ZF Lifeguard. None of the products that you mention are on the list. Maybe that's just 'scare' tactics?

Thanks, i did see the list. my bad, community seems to hype up the zf only somewhat. Not much really available to us apart from Pentosin ATF1 which is listed, Still can only find it in one place online in AU. Think I'll wait till my next fcp euro order and add some.

just done mine 130km

I done mine. glad I did it.
bought the sleeve and plug incase but didn't end up using them cause they were not leaking and I did not want to disturb them.

I used this
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F223287850649

6 litres used for a drain and refill.

noticed increadible difference in drive and gear changing.

and inspected pan when replacing.
found metal.
worth servicing . no such thing as lifetime fluid.

Out of interest, at what mileage did you change your fluid?
