BMW 335i V Audi S3
Last night, I took my stock standard 2017 Audi S3 Sedan out to the Test N Tune to see what it would do. I did 2 runs using launch control and achieved a 12.953 @ 106.65 mph and a 12.909 @ 106.4 mph. When I compare these times with the times my 335i was achieving back in 2010 with only a Vishnu Procede V4 tune installed, they are pretty impressive for a 2.0L turbo. My BMW back then was getting low 13s with the best a 12.978 @ 108mph. Even after I installed AR DPs, HPF IC and Quaife LSD, I was still getting 12.8s regularly with the best being a 12.4s. An Audi S3 with only a APR Stage 1 tune was doing 12.0s times. There were 2 BMW M2s running as well last night. The best time out of the 2 of them was a 12.6s with most runs in the 13s. The most impressive car was a VW Golf R that run a 9.91s after which he was stopped from running because he didn't have a roll cage.

Yea the golf r are quick. Even on pump fuel doing 12s easy probably 11s.
The audi seem to be a step above in recent years. For 2.0 doing 12s is pretty crazy. When you do every bolt ons pary to an sr20 back in my day were doing 13s thinking it was a 1000hp beast. You have a nice line up of cars thats for sure. And you drag race them even better. |

One of my friends owned a tuned Golf R and my other friend had an S3 with downpipe, tune and intake and both were quick. They pulled on my N55 pretty bad each time

I think it is the DSG gear box that shifts a little quicker and with the 4WD you are probably looking at 0.5 sec there combined. Great bang for your buck.
It is the A45 AMG 2.0l that impress me. Now 310 KW at of the box! |

Yes, the new A45 should be quick over the 1/4. It may get high 11s. I have seen a stock Audi S3 with just a APR Stage 1 tune do consistent 12.0s runs and this is about $25K cheaper than a A45.

They are fast and the combination of power, traction and gearing are hard to beat.
Its a shame BMW didn't explore AWD and DKG with more vigour earlier on. Though I understand that the M5 AWD is a weapon... its a boat though and costs as much as a house. Golf R for the bang for your buck win!

Don't forget the BMW is about the rear wheel drive driving experience and carving those corners rather than just the straight line speed.
