If you have usb there wil be a Mulf2 Hi module underneath
the TCU Module . The ID is printed on it . TCU 1.5 Telephone control unit Contains bluetooth and SOS functions. BMW no longer supports SOS no 2g anymore. Mulf2 Hi USB bluetooth phone and AUX. You would need a close up of the labeling for us to id it Only a combox in conjunction with a Idrive of a certain software level is capable of streaming bluetooth music in the OEM modules. And it would be in the location you are looking at if you have one. Last edited by ctuna; 11-03-2019 at 08:16 PM.. |

hey ctuna,
brilliant, thanks for the detailed response. The car does not have idrive, so in that case enhanced BT is not an option. I've recently installed an audison system and have lost my aux connection in the process. I'm still not 100% sure if this is due to disconnecting the battery or that the audison harness simply does not route the aux wires through to the head unit. It does seem likely, although bizarre, strange that the head unit would loose it's coding from disconnecting the battery. Such is BMW I guess. In any case, without the aux connection i'm just exploring other ways to steam from phone. I'm considering an eonon HU, but a little weary of quality control from them. quick question.....would you know off the top of your head what file formats the USB connection supports? I assume mp3 and wav, but wonder if any HD formats, like flac or aiff. anyhow - thanks again for the details cheers |

The aux is coming from the Box you are showing in the back if
you have USB from the factory. MP3 and wave is what I remember. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...4#post23244354 No coding should be lost from a battery disconnect. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ If you look up the mulf2 hi called the ulf hi in the above document you will see the aux comes from the mulf 2 hi or combox in most cases and not the head unit if you have the factory usb option. ah great, thanks for that. I'll have a look at those links.
see, when I googled the losing the aux connection there's a definite trend with battery disconnects and the aux feature/option dropping from the head unit. I guess it doesn't really matter where the signal is coming from, the general response to people having this problem was that for one reason or another the "aux" option needed to be coded back in (sorry of not the correct terminology). Can I ask, as far as you know, this is not the case? thanks again. You certainly know your stuff. |
