Traction control light flashing
Just had the privilege of driving in the hideous weather this morning. Was on the dual carriage way doing 60mph, moved to centre of the road to avoid deep water and when I pulled back in Traction Control Light flashing, not madly but on/off every second. Pulled off and slowed down to 30ish and it went. Came back on the dual carriage way and not seen it since.
Any ideas? |

Sounds like the stability control was working to keep you in a straight line, while the car was aquaplaning on standing water on the road. Go steady

If you were just at a steady cruise, I doubt there would be much to feel. There's no other reason that I'm aware of for the DSC light to flash. Any sensor malfunction etc would be accompanied by a bong, and would persist until you cycled the ignition.

What make & how worn are your rear tyres?
I suspect it was just the TC doing it's thing, if the rain was anything like it was here this morning I suspect one could easily lose traction at 60mph.

Been out today and has not occurred although it was a very brief drive. 100% convinced it was not the traction control kicking in as it went on for too long with no accelerator input etc.
Are the sensors easy to change and is it one per wheel. My tyres probably have between 4-5mm left on the rear. |

Definitely 4 sensors, you need one on each wheel otherwise the ABS and stability control won't have enough information to tell when it needs to kick in. As Tambohamilton says get the codes read so you replace the correct one. And don't do what I did and get the part number wrong and order a rear sensor to put in the front hub.... It doesn't work 🤓😅

My traction control lights up at the same bumps in the road every day. I put it down to the dodgy run flats. I’ve tried it with the DTC button pressed in briefly and the problem goes away. It seems the BMW traction control is, by default, a little too nannyish.
