Thanks but 16 yrs of no issues, I'll take my chances.
I don't park on inclines much either. When I do I know how to turn my tires into a curb. And ebrake, in gear or not if you park on ice the car will slide regardless.

Doesn't BMW advise against remote starts since it says in the manual it's best to just start up and drive?

So how much is the installation from your friend? I have seen it asked a few times and still no answer... Might be interested depending on the price.

This happened to me when I had my WRX. I Valet my car at a club and they parked it in a garage right next door. I come out and give my ticket to the guy, 30 sec later, I see my car just take off and go right into the bouncers SUV. We were both pretty pissed.

after driving my gf's caddy for a week and falling in love with the ability to remote start the car from the phone, i've decided its a must now
here's my plan after some research http://www.bestbuy.com/site/idatasta...=bmw&lp=1&cp=1 the iData works with Drone Mobile which allows me to start the car from my phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...droneapp&hl=en the only hold up is, i'm not sure if want to install it on my e90 or wait to see if i'll be picking up a x5 |

The Idata along with the Droid mobile (there's a separate accessory you have to purchase) will let you start it from your phone.
The idata alone will let you start your car by pushing the lock button 3 times but you have to be close to the car (similar to the videos i posted above). to me, that's not good enough as my remote doesn't have a very good range to even unlock the doors |
