So reduce the performance of the car so you can get more "snap, crackle, and pop" out of the exhaust??

Seems logical....

I never tried it, but i guess, adding some lag does transform your car in a turtle... seems logical...

Anyway If people like burbling ? Why judging ?

Some people aren't always woting and looking for being the faster on the road.

Moreover it's a topic about burbles, it might be a useful information for people that likes them a lot.

I've been playing around with the burble tune options. I have the sport mode set to aggressive, and 1second duration.

It doesn't seem to crazy....but every now and then it pops hard enough sheet I can feel it through the floorboard......... thinking about dialing it back down a little. I'm assuming that if it pops hard enough to feel it...not could damage some stuff??

Having the 335is it came stock with burbles since the IS comes with its own version of PPK with launch control. Once I went with a tune via MHD I enabled the burbles to be aggressive but the same length as stock which is about 0.3 to 0.4 secs. That gives it that perfect stock pop occasionally like AMGs and M cars on downshifts and deceleration. In my opinion anything more than 0.5 secs is kinda over doing it.

+1 I wouldn't set for any longer 0.3-0.4 sec is perfect.

I don't ever recall having any burble on my dct 335is when it was stock. I have a very minimal burble now with mhd though.

I have mine on 1 second.....and when it pops, it feels like it's going to blow the exhaust off....way too violent. I'm going to dial it back down to .4 s.

Are you guys running the aggressive setting?

I wish it was more like my mini Cooper....just a nice smooth burble and a little bit of pop.......not a pop pop BANG like it's doing now.

I run max setting 1.5 seconds because I like to do flames.

But I had it at 0.3 before for a nice reasonable pop burble

With the stock IS. The burble is only really active in Sport Mode.

Yeah only when driving though. And I guess you would have to be full catless.

Does long blue flames and and short ones to. You have to like rev it up to 4k ish then spam the pedal down to around 3k RPM iirc

Trust me its there in non-sport mode too lol. Maybe more noticeable in sport mode because the flap to one exhaust is always open. If you do the "golf tee mod" you'll hear the burbles more since both exhausts are open rather then a single one.

Ya, something like 0.5 seconds vs two seconds in sport mode. The XDF for this was published yesterday.

I tend to agree with those that say your better off turning it off. I also like a little a burble sound, moderate at best but refrain from activating it.

I have a problem with fuel combusting outside of the combustion chamber, the exhaust manifold and turbos aren't designed to handle the shock waves. I also wonder about raw fuel burning as it crosses the valve and stem (probably putting too much thought in it). That said, I think the most damage you may cause would be to O2 sensors, gaskets/seals etc. (and cats if you still have them) if you run the burble full aggressive all the time. Our BMW's seals, gaskets and sensors are already challenged to perform their functions long term so I tend to side on a little caution and keep it off.

Is anything going to happen if you do? Probably not, running stock turbos at more than double their intended boost will be more costly. So do what makes you happy, everything we are doing is shortening the life of the engine and its major components. I say focus more on maintenance, especially early oil changes, every 3-4k - our cars are very hard on oil especially tuned. Soapbox dismount.
