6AT Malfunction

My transmission just had a malfunction warning pop with it being stuck in 5th gear. The trans temps seem ok if moving but it did get a little too hot going up hill and from heavy stop and go traffic as the car was stuck in 5th. Warning goes away after restarting car but it does come back after the tranny warms up.

How many miles on the transmission? When was the last time you changed the fluid and filter (if ever)? Have the seals between the valve body and transmission case ever been changed?

You need to give some more info.......

Tranny is at 110k and the fluid was changed around 75k. The mechatronic seal was also replaced at that time as well. The temps reached almost 220 degrees Fahrenheit at its worst but lowered to 205 as soon as i started moving.

If you aren't beating on the car, you shouldnt be seeing near 200 degrees at all. I've only seen 210 degrees once or twice and that was with repeated drag launches one right after another through multiple gear every time testing something.

I'd bet you have a cooler issue or the trans is coming apart internally and heating the fluid up past normal.
