Alignment/ Warranty Issue on 335I
Sorry for the long post, had to get this off my chest, I was real pissed!
I have had my 335I Coupe since the first week in September. Shortly after delivery, I noticed a pull to the left that was quite noticable. Now I am not a expert in all things BMW, but have driven plenty of BMW's to know when something doesn't feel right. I am not a dummy when it comes to mechanical issues. With my travel schedule, (flying all over the place) finally calming down. I stopped at a dealer close to my house, (not the dealer I bought the car from) in New York to pick up a part for my 2003 330xi, (which was purchased from that dealer). I casually had a conversation with a SA about the pulling problem, as I read in my owners manual that if the car has under 2k miles on it, the alignment would be no charge. The SA had the Service Manager take a test ride with me to see what the deal was. He did not even make it out of their driveway (about 50 yards) before he confirmed there was a problem, he speculated a caster problem, that probably was not fixed from the factory to dealer prep. Unfortunately there was not an opening that day for service, so I did not have the work done. Before leaving on my next trip I scheduled an appointment in NJ to have the alignment done. After driving 60 miles south, and going through the loaner process and paperwork, the SA callled back after 4 hours to say that they took the car for a ride and found NO problems. After explaining the situation with the other dealer, the SA told me that they would not do any work on the car since it passed a road inspection, I was furious. I left the dealer, and the next day, the BMW survey people called to ask how my recent experience was. Before giving them all #1's I told them that I would not give any feedback unless something was done. The quickly patched me through to my NY dealer and scheduled an appointment on the spot. Had the alignment done yesterday, every wheel failed the camber parameters, and the rear toe was out of range as well. Any thoughts on what I should do in communicating this to the dealer that refused service? If the alignment was coming out of my pocket, I know damn well that there wouldn't even be a road test, but services performed and a $250 bill. This might be something fellow new owners might want to look into if you still have low mileage, and something does not feel right. |

I just got my car back since I left it at the dealer for an alingment. But in my case, they just told me to bring it in and that they'd take care of it. The actual shop foreman called me yesterday afternoon to tell me he wasn't 100% satisfied with the way it came out and to see if I could leave it overnight and get it just right. Thank you Brecht BMW...

MJ , I have the same issue as you. Slight pull to the left. 6600 miles on my o8 e92 335 with sport. kind of funny also delivered in September. Think I still qualify for a freebe alignment.

i recomend all people to get their alignment checked BEFORE leaving the dealer at deliver or buying of the car. new cars have a tendency to have horribly alligned wheels....
