Roughly 135k annually depending on overtime and differentials (federal government job). Single with no student loans. I just leased a low optioned 335i sedan(zsp + leather) at $575 per month. I could afford more but am set on buying a home in the bay area once this downturn levels off so I didn't want too high of a debt/income ratio. Besides I'm a pretty damn thrifty dude!

Oh shoot, everyone knows that. Here are the steps for calculating risk adjusted returns:

1. Make coffee.
2. Google for "risk adjusted returns".
3. Read copious articles in the hopes that understanding will occur.
4. Find formula that suggests you seriously need to brush up on your math skills.

http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/88xx/doc8...dixB.5.2.shtml

5. Pull out "Algebra for Dummies" book and read furiously.
6. Urinate and make more coffee.
7. Try to remember if you have any friends that are accountants.
8. Realize you've been wasting time as accountants don't have friends.
9. Urinate again.
10. Wing it.
11. ???
12. Profit.

To lease a 3-series BMW, you don't need to make much money.

San Francisco area, under the air traffic pay plan (air traffic controller, AT-11 pay grade). The last time my occupation was under the GS system was prior to 1998 I believe.

Well, I have been to asia but unfortunately don't own any asian currency right now. The point was it doesn't make me any better as a person, i'm just a lucky sob.

I make enough to afford my house and BMW and still not be up to my neck owing anyone money or tight at the end of the month. I live comfortably. I think most of us here do or we wouldn't drive the cars we drive and mod the way we mod.
