Planning on making custom single turbo manifold

Hi everyone,
I am planning on going single turbo on a pretty extreme budget. I was planning on making my own top mount exhaust manifold. It seems most common for it to be made out of sch10 SS. I was wondering if anyone has made it out of mild grade steel before? Also if anyone has made a custom manifold if you have some measurements it would help a ton.

My buddy said all the piping for his cost about $550 using sch10 piping. Not sure if that includes the plate.
It’s a lot of work to make one from scratch and would suck if it cracked because you used the wrong piping.
