NITTO NT05 265 Tires on 8.5" Stock Rims?

I need new tires for my 335i and I have 265 tires on it already. I would like to put 265/35R18 97W tires on the rear but it looks like they are rated for a minimum of 9" rim width. Will they work on my 8.5" rims? If not, what is my next best option?

They will fit fine. The guy I bought my car from put 275/35/18 pilot powers on the back. Technicaly too wide for the stock wheels, but they fit just fine.

I just ordered a set of new tires for the rears....265/35/18. Don't worry...you will be fine.

Typically with more performance-oriented tires, such as the Nitto NT05, proper sidewall support will be necessary for the tire to perform as designed. A 265/35-18 will not have enough sidewall support on an 8.5" wheel and the sidewall will bulge out from the rim of the wheel. This will in-turn cause a "mushy" handling feel as the sidewalls of the tires will flex significantly more under load.

For a 265 width tire, we typically recommend a 9.5" wide wheel for the best performance results. However, a 265 tire on a 9" wheel is also an acceptable alternative.
