i get this sound as well.....had it with both Cobb and Procede so it's not tune specific. and as folks say.....it's intermittent....but pretty annoying to be honest.

Hey I have this noise as well WTF is this. Drove me NUTS I heard it for the first time when installing my HID fogs. Starting the car it doesn't come until you rev it and after that its so annoying.

Never could identify the source... but it never caused a problem (that I know of)

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I am looking at buying a used 335xi - n54 engine, and it's producing the same noise. Anyone ever confirm what this was, or have better insight now? Thanks!

Some vacuum valve but can't remember the details. Sorry!

The noise is coming from the boost solenoids. I would replace both. They aren't too expensive and are easy to do.

Same issue

Mine cycles on and off. 4 seconds on 4-5 seconds off. I also get a tik tik tik that started around the same time. I wonder if they're correlated? Please, if anyone has found a fix, let me know! thanks!

I replaced my vacuum lines and boost solenoid (only one was bad). Solved my problem for under $100.
