E92 Best Option for Hi Fi Audio Upgrade

I know that this has been argued to death but I haven't found a definitive answer.

Okay so I've been dealing with ongoing problems with an SOS error, no bluetooth hands free, and my subwoofers making a weird crackling noise (they don't sound blown though).

Relevant Info

- Hi-Fi System (Option S676A)
- Professional Radio (Option S663A)
- No iDrive

What I've tried

I have tried to replace my amp with used amps twice and no luck. Decided to open up the amp that was in my car and it was clean as a whistle. I have tried a used HU (yes, it was a Professional unit) and the crackling got worse so I put my original back in. This is making me lean toward a bad HU causing the crackling. I work at a junkyard so I grabbed a TCU from an E60 but it had no blue plug on it while mine did so I will be trying another that's exactly the same soon.

My next step is probably to check/replace the subs because my sunroof drain got clogged a while back and I found water in the rear foot well.

Main Topic

In light of these problems I'm thinking about just upgrading my sound system instead of buying used OEM stuff because the Hi-Fi is quite bad imo. I've read a lot of threads about different options and it seemed like a popular choice was a JL Audio XD600/6v2 and SWS-8xi woofers with Technic PnP harnesses/brackets, but I read in an install video on YouTube that I will lose my aux input??? Aux is all I use.

What are the best PnP choices for the door speakers, tweeters, and rear speakers?

Also willing to upgrade my HU so I am wondering what my options are there. Probably want a single DIN unit because it seems like the 2-DIN units I've seen make you delete the heated seat controls. Also plug and play for this would be nice.

Sorry for the long read,
Thanks in advance.

If you are switching OEM part's for the entertainment system into the car they in general have to be programmed for the car.
(Not the High Fi amp but the other two )

You have two separate problems the SOS problem and the
Noisey speakers problem.

Nothing is absolutely plug and play with regard to these especially the
head unit . Hi Fi is the easiest to upgrade with regard to the amp and
speakers. A few things have to be programmed out like the SOS function
for a head unit change.(to non OEM)

Have you tried a visual inspection on the speakers.

SOS error can be bad TCU or break in the Most Bus or another
module if you have it like a Sat module or Mulf module.
There is also a test point for most under the drivers side dash
panel.
Have you tried disconnecting the TCU to see if is has any effect
on the speaker noise.

As far as current upgrade options.
DSP/Amp combinations are pretty popular now.
Things like the Helix 86dsp
There are many plug and play three way speaker kits
that cover the front doors and floors .
From brands like AudiotechFisher , Gladen/Mosconi , Jehnert
MbQuart. They tend to be Euro brands not the familiar Jap Brands.

This stuff tends to be relatively expensive figure on 1k to 1.5k to do
a nice upgrade of the amp and speakers.
