Tips for buying a car out of state
So, I'm looking to buy a car from an out of state dealer and have the car shipped to me.
Does anyone have any tips on doing this? Escrow service? Or do I just wire the funds after the paperwork is signed and faxed back and forth. |

if its used... best to go there and inspect and or drive back.

There is a very good article in one of the recent Roundel publications about your kind of situation.
Be very careful and find out as much as you can about the car. See it in person. Have a signed agreement.

The car is used and I've seen lots of pics.
2006 Porshe Cayman S being sold by a Porsche Dealer. The car is Certified by Porshce. The salesman said the car was traded and it not a demo. Any other thoughts? I'm thinking I would have to sign the paper work, wire funds, than they will ship the car to me. Obviously, it would be much easier to look at the car in person, drive it and do all the paperwork in person, but I'm looking for tips/thoughts/help from anyone that has bought a car sight unseen. |

I'm actually in the process of doing this myself. It aint easy...that's for sure. When you figure out that car "A" is exactly the one you want, it really pays to have an independent inspection company check it out. I did this a few years ago (can't even remember what the car was) and the inspection came back with a ton of things the dealer wasn't disclosing. But in my case, it really came down to a slimy dealer.
I do now that California doesn't allow you to drive your car out of state, unless you pay sales tax. So there might be other states that do the same thing, I don't know. In order to avoid this, you have to have the car professionally transported. Please keep us posted on how it goes...like I said I'm about to do the same thing.
