Coding new frm module.
I’m going to swap my frm1 module with an frm2 module from 2008 so I can have the warm welcome halos light up when I unlock the car.
I have an 07 335i. I’m using the bimmergeeks ProTool app. I want to confirm some things needed to do. All I have to do change the vin on the new frm module and change the VO on the frm module with all my VO? And also change the build date to 0307? When I select to change the vin on the frm module, it shows me “NOTFOUNDxxxxxx”. If I click read vin, then it gives me the last 7 of my vin. When I look at my VO, it gives me all my car options with the build date. Under a “base” and “add-ons” list, the app shows more options that could be selected and saved. From what I’ve read, I need to copy all the VO from the CAS to the new frm module? I don’t think the app has the capability to copy and paste. Should I just write down all the VOs my CAS and my old FRM have and select all those options on the new FRM module? The VO type I currently read is VB73. I don’t see an option to change that, just see options that I can select and save. Not sure where to go from here. Frm2 is from an 08 with xenon like my 07. Unsure what other options the 08 has. Thanks.

It's possible with pro tools forsure but I've never used protools so I can't comment on how to do it. I do know protools implemented writing vin when you default code the module, so all you have to figure out is how to write new build date of #0307 and copy vehicle order from CAS to FRM. I'd recommend joining the protools Facebook group since they're active daily

I already navigated to the Build date portion where I can change my build date. By copying the CAS VOs to the frm, it’s as simple as it sound right? Whatever VOs the CAS has, the frm module should have those too right? I didn’t see a copy and paste option. Would simply writing down my VOs on paper and then manually copying everything into the frm work? I’ll check right now to see if there’s a default code option and join the FB group. Another thing, when an FRM module is default coded, does it reset it any coding that has been done on it? Not sure if anything is coded out on the frm2 module. |

You shouldn't need to individually add each vehicle order option to FRM. I know protools has a function to copy and write but I'm unsure how to do it. I'd recommend joining that group and asking or shooting their support an email with the question, they have quick support.

Thank you.
I finally got it in and working! The angel eyes now turn on when I unlock the door, but I remember the angel eyes slowly turning on when I tested it on the donor car. On my car they just abruptly turn on. Is there a “warm welcome light” feature I have to code? For anyone in the future, here’s what I did. Once your new frm module is in. From the MAIN MENU(once you open the app and connect to the car) Click vehicle Click vehicle order Click CAS Click Edit Click date Change date to March 2007 Click Actions Click save A window pops up, “choose location” Click both FRM and CAS.(it will change the date on both CAS and frm and copy your VO from CAS to FRM. Once that’s done, your FRM should show the same VO as your CAS. If not, close the app and try again. Default coding the FRM. Main menu again: Click safety Click FRM(footwell module) Click coding Click default code A window promoting you to make a back up will pop up, click confirm. Click Car access system(CAS) It will say “copying VO” then “coding” It should say coding successful once it’s done. Verify your new FRM has your vin written on it by clicking FUNCTIONS and then read vin(still in the frm menu). If your vin is read, you’re done. If Your FRM shows XXXXXXX as vin, relaunch the app and read the vin again. If it still says XXXXXXX as vin, default code the frm again. Really easy, should only take a few minutes. Thanks SD-BMW-CODING and ISAAC from The ProTool FB page. Help on the warm welcome option would be appreciated. |
