If you have this iDrive controller, then you have a CIC system:

CIC Professional has a wider 8.8" monitor (see left pic), while CIC Business has a smaller 6.5" monitor (right pic)

Yeah, that's the 8.8" screen.

In the VIN decoder for your car, do you have either of the following codes (or anything else that mentions "navigation")?
  • S609A (Navigation System Professional)
  • S606A (Business Navigation)

I don't know if you can add Navigation as a retrofit.
Maybe others would know.

Your VIN indicates that you do not have a CIC but rather your system is set up for TV and your display is the monitor for that.

You also do not appear to have GPS options including the antenna and amplifiers. You do have a Combox though.

Adding GPS and CIC would be an interesting exercise at best and may require more work than it is worth.

In your shoes I would be considering adding an all in one Android based unit while upgrading the stereo.

You would need a cic headunit and a gps extension cable. It would be super easy.

I'll take your word for that.

Wouldn't he also need the shark fin antenna, antenna amp and all of the associated stuff?
