The is is the first car I've purchased in along time that I have not tweaked the engine. I'll consider myself lucky until all of this settles.

I will give you some paranoia....

BMW can easily issue a recall to reprogram all DMEs for "emissions"....this means no other work can be done on the car with complying with the recall.... This is a cheap way to ensure you guys are behaving.

No way, I'm using JB and I'm scared as he'll that the dealer will update my DME on my next service. Thankfully, I had my first (15K) oil change done just days before the updated DME announcement went live.

But I've been wanting to get back to the dealer to update my Progman to enable POI search (I didnt bring it up during my recent service because I forgot to pull the JB unit out prior to arriving at the dealer). Now I don't want to get POI for fear that the dealer will update my DME and render my JB dead of void my warranty if it detects the piggyback.

Ok, so here's a question.....say I go in for routine maintenance, can I simply ask the dealer NOT to update my program? Sure it will send up a red flag, but what's the big deal? they can't "flag" my car for potential mods simply because I don't want thier "voluntary" update....can they?
